Dr. Steve Davis regularly speaks and brings
leadership training for those in pastoral and Christian Leadership.
This year, a handful of leaders and pastors from 3 different states
asked Pastor Steve if he would consider putting on a conference so
they could benefit from a time of fellowship and learning together.
So, we had our first Pastor and Leader Conference
this November! The ladies from
The
Worship Center organized the meals for
all three days. We’re talking steak, pork roast, spaghetti and
meatballs and other food that sticks to your ribs!
The theme of the conference was “How to Turn Your Ship
Around without Sinking Your Boat”- bringing biblical
change and growth in our churches without wrecking the church or the
ministry in the process. It was open to pastors and leaders from
other churches. Of course, The Worship Center people attended too!
The focus of the conference was what can be done in
SMALL and midsize churches, working with very limited staff, budgets
and buildings.
We
learned SIMPLE, free and proven ways to increase the effectiveness
of your church and ministry that don’t take much money or staff. We
are not a large church (pushing maybe 299 or so people) and we know
how tough it is to break the 25 member barrier. Then, there is the
50 – 60 barrier. Many churches make it to about 75 members and then
they plateau, and go through pastor after pastor, searching for the
man of God who can bring a change without making any changes. They
won’t find such a man. We talked about how you can make some changes
that will bring significant change into the church.
We were very excited to be able to host this
conference, and to be able to do it at no cost to the attendees.
